Cameras set exposure for the whole scene. A bright background makes the phone darken everything, including you. Turning to face the light fixes most dark videos.

Why do my iPhone videos look dark?
Short answerUsually not enough light, or a bright window behind you. Face the light, add a lamp in front, or tap your face and drag the sun icon up to brighten the exposure.
